scams of 'easy-download.info'
' Easy-download.info ' is the name of a site registered in Arizona ( USA) belonging to a company (Euro Content Ltd) incorporated England (only) one office in Germany (Frankfurt), with a server of your web pages in the Netherlands (Leaseweb BV), a current account at a bank Czechoslovakia (unpronounceable name) and a fax number 'Roman' (prefix 06 , but 'running' communications in Germany via e-mail).
So far, nothing unusual for a company that operates solely on the web. The problem, though, is that markets (even) in Italy through its website, which is achieved if, at the 'Google', try to find something like 'free software', 'download free', and short programs in some way ' free '.
You will then, within a maximum of two or three 'link', on site registration services 'easy-download.info', through which, by giving your name, email address and you can access the pages where to download free software.
To activate the service, There will, however, also a confirmation email, which obviously do not read, and that, in an annex, will tell you that the service to which you have just been registered for at least 24 months, cost the modest sum of € 8.00 per month with annual payment for € 96.00, and you can cancel the contract within 10 days of its conclusion.
Then silence. Beautiful happy you download the programs that tried (and you could really find free on other sites, to have a little ' more patience), and magnify your friends the 'power of the Internet' ...
After about twenty days, however, there would come an e-mail from the Anglo-Dutch-German-Italian-Czech, in which there is enjoined the payment of 96 €, which would follow a first 'reminder' e-mail and a second via postal mail (entitled 'urgent notice - final reminder'), as well as an additional € 5.00 for reimbursement of 'Costs', there would have been given notice, in case of vs. further non-compliance, recourse to the courts.
And you, most likely by people who are honest, you would have paid for the free programs.
This story has been bad recently (and thankfully) told by the Garante della Concorrenza e del Mercato, che, grazie alla segnalazione di migliaia di consumatori e di alcune associazioni, ha aperto un’inchiesta ed ha condannato ‘easy-download.info’, per pubblicità scorretta ed aggressiva, ad un’ammenda di 960.000,00 euro e a pubblicare sul suo sito un estratto della delibera di condanna per 30 giorni.
Sarà, ma il sito è ancora lì, e della condanna ricevuta, sul sito, non v’è alcuna notizia (forse perché i trenta giorni sono passati). Fate una ricerca con Google (o cliccate il titolo del post)… Avv. Antonio M. Polito
