Nonostante il tenore piuttosto blando della 'raccomandazione', strumento già di per sé 'soft', dal carattere non vincolante e privo di indicazioni specifiche, il documento è cionondimeno importante, sottolineando le responsabilità dei giornalisti e di chi fa 'informazione' su temi quali l'inserzione di elementi estranei al puro diritto di cronaca (quali comportamenti sessuali, ecc.), ovvero l'induzione ad eccessivo 'protagonismo' di soggetti che dovrebbero mantenere un necessario distacco istituzionale e/o professionale, come giudici ed avvocati.

RECOMMENDATION

Se è vero che è impossibile valutare la correttezza etica dell’offerta informativa unicamente in base a parametri di tipo quantitativo, alla luce dei principi deontologici dell’ essenzialità dell’informazione e della necessità di tutelare la sfera privata delle persone coinvolte, è altrettanto impossibile sottrarci alla raccomandazione che programmi e servizi debbano ispirarsi alla catena degli eventi più che alla pressione determinata dalla ritenuta necessità di una loro costante ripresa in ogni sede mediatica, al solo scopo di mantenere viva l’attenzione del pubblico.
5. Il Comitato raccomanda di evitare, nell’osservanza dei principi deontologici della professione giornalistica, ogni insistenza su particolari e dettagli personali e riservati e, spesso, anche irrilevanti quali, ad esempio, i comportamenti sessuali di indagati o testimoni. Un analogo principio di tutela deve, a maggior ragione, applicarsi sia a difesa dei minori, soprattutto nella protected zone, whether the victims of murderous events, to avoid the risk that their shape and identity are manipulated in order to attract, or maintain, in an artificial way the public's attention.
